This Friday, FIFA suspended the player Pape Gueye, from Olympique de Marseille, due to an investigation into a negotiation between the French club and Watford, from England.
The confusion happened in July 2020. Watford announced the signing of Gueye, who after the end of his contract with Le Havre, from France, signed for free with the Premier League team.
However, 17 hours after the announcement, Watford sold the player to Olympique de Marseille, where he has played since.
Currently, the 22-year-old is currently representing Senegal in the African Cup of Nations, but with the entity’s decision, he will not be able to play in any competitions until a new decision is made.
The 22-year-old played in Senegal’s 1-0 victory over Zimbabwe last Monday (10). On the morning of this Friday, the African team entered the field and drew 0-0 with Guinea, but Gueye was not listed.
The Senegalese national team’s next commitment takes place next Tuesday (18), when the team faces Malawi, in a match valid for the 3rd round of group B of the African Cup of Nations.
