Arteta sees Arsenal ‘in the right direction’ and praises Conte ahead of Tottenham derby

After goalless draw against Liverpool, The Arsenal has another difficult task ahead. On Sunday, Mikel Arteta’s team welcomes the rival Tottenham fur English Premier League. The coach stated that the Gunners are “in the right direction” and he was full of praise for coach Antonio Conte, from Spurs.

“I think we are in the right direction. Yesterday we had to play an extremely difficult match, with ten players for 70 minutes, but I saw a lot of leadership in the field of very young players. That encourages me a lot because they understood what was needed, they were ready for the challenge and they showed a real struggle and resilience to do what they did.”

The Spanish captain also praised Tottenham’s experienced Italian coach: “What Antonio brings is a lot of clarity in his way of playing. He dominates what he does, he is an extremely successful coach. They play differently, they have principles they apply. It will be a very difficult match.”

The North London classic, valid for the 22nd round of the Premier League, is scheduled for the Emirates Stadium, on Sunday, at 13:30 (GMT). Arsenal occupies the 5th position in the table and has 35 points – two more than Tottenham, in sixth place and who have two fewer matches in the tournament.
