Newscastle confirms signing of Chris Wood

Newscastle has announced yet another addition to the team. Striker Chris Wood has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract and arrives in time for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Watford.

The 30-year-old is the club’s second signing after the announcement of Atletico Madrid winger Kieran Trippier.

Wood will wear the number 20 jersey and said “it’s a very exciting opportunity to be an amazing place and to have the chance to represent the club with the amazing fans in the stands.”

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe praised the striker, who “comes at a crucial moment”.

Chris started his career in his native New Zealand. In 2008, he moved to West Bromwich Albion and, after excelling in the youth ranks, was promoted to professional.

After playing for several English teams, he was signed by Burnley in 2017. Since then, he has scored 53 goals in 165 matches. For his team, there are 27 goals in 59 games.
