Erling Haaland and his surroundings will meet with Borussia Dortmund officials “in the coming weeks” to decide the future of the 21-year-old prodigy after the end of the season, the German newspaper Bild reported on Tuesday.
“In the coming weeks, a first meeting is planned between Erling, his father, Alf-Inge, and his adviser, Mino Raiola. Borussia want to have a clear vision until, at the latest, the end of February”, says the newspaper, which does not anticipated no date for this meeting.
According to the European press, Real Madrid and Manchester City have an advantage to sign the Norwegian, but Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Barcelona and Bayern Munich would also be in the fight.
One thing seems certain: Haaland will not leave on the January market, something that Borussia Dortmund’s managers will not accept under any circumstances.
“Who would let one of Europe’s best strikers go in winter if they don’t have to?” said club director Hans-Joachim Watzke last week. “Borussia are still in contention in three competitions, the Bundesliga, where they are second, the German Cup and the Europa League, and we want to have the best team possible,” he added.
Since joining Dortmund in January 2020, Haaland has scored 76 goals in 80 games across all competitions. In the Champions League, with Salzburg and then Borussia Dortmund, he scored 23 goals in 21 games.
Cristiano Ronaldo, the all-time top scorer in the Champions League, needed 61 games to score 23 goals.
The specialist website Transfermarkt.de estimates the Norwegian’s market value at €150 million ($170 million).
