The tournament puts face to face, in a single game, the reigning Italian champions and the winners of the Coppa Italia, in this case, Inter and Juve, respectively.
The last time the teams faced each other in the competition was in 2005, when the Milan team was crowned champion. This will be the 257th match between the clubs. In total, there were 114 victories for Juventus against 78 for the rival, in addition to 64 draws.
Current leader of the Italian Championship, Inter Milan is in a great phase and comes from a 2-1 victory over Lazio last Sunday. In addition, Simone Inzaghi’s team has eight consecutive triumphs in Serie A and will count on the return of Edin Dzeko, who will once again team up with Lautaro Martínez after recovering from covid-19.
After a troubled start to the season, Juve managed to stabilize and have not lost in eight games, but remain outside the G-4. The team got a heroic comeback last Sunday, 4-3, against Roma.
