Yokohama’s Japanese striker Katsuyoshi Miura has signed a new professional contract. Reported by The Japan Times.
Miura, 54, has extended his contract with Yokohama, which he has been playing for since 2005. However, the oldest footballer in the world will play for Suzuka Point Getters from the fourth division, where he was loaned for a year. The football player’s new team is headed by his older brother Yasutoshi Miura.
On September 23, 2020, he made history by becoming the oldest participant in a professional football match. He spent 53 minutes on the field playing Yokohama against Kawasaki Frontale.
Miura began performing professionally in 1986. He is best known for playing for Brazilian Palmeiras and Santos. In the 1990s, the footballer played in Europe and defended the colors of Italian Genoa and Croatian Zagreb. The forward spent most of his career in Japan. According to the portal Transfermarkt, in just his career, he played in 682 matches and scored 190 goals.
