The footballer who faked the death will face trial

Former footballer of the German “Schalke 04” Yannick Kamba will appear in court: he is accused of faking his own death for the sake of insurance payments. Reported by The Sun.

The 31-year-old ex-footballer faces ten years in prison if proven fraudulent. The wife of Kamba managed to receive almost 1.2 million euros from the insurance company, providing documentary evidence of the death of her husband.

In 2016, it was reported that Kamba died in a car accident in his homeland in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In 2020, the declared dead athlete appeared at the German embassy in the capital of the country, Kinshasa, and declared that he was the victim of a kidnapping. Returning to Germany, he took a job as a technologist in the chemical industry.

Kamba is a graduate of the Schalke-04 system. The player failed to get into the first team. Since 2008, he has played for clubs in the lower divisions of the German championship.
