In an exciting game, Gil Vicente beats Vitória de Guimarães for the Portuguese

This Monday, Gil Vicente beat Vitória de Guimarães 3-2, for the 17th round of the Portuguese Championship, at Estádio Cidade de Barcelos. The goals of the hosts were scored by Fran Navarro (2) and Antoine Léautey. The visitors scored with Nélson Luz and Marcus Edwards.
With the victory, Gil Vicente jumps to fifth place, with 26 points, and enters the classification zone for the Conference League – a new tournament promoted by UEFA. Vitória de Guimarães is in eighth position, with 23.

The hosts dominated most of the game and opened 3-0. The first two goals were scored by Spanish striker Fran Navarro. At 23, he received a good throw from the Brazilian Lucas Ferrugem, invaded the area and hit hard to open the scoring. At the beginning of the second stage, Navarro took advantage of the rebound to expand. Gil also expanded with Antoine Léautey.

However, the visitors grew in the end and threatened the party. Nélson Luz, after a pass from João Ferreira, scored with 10 minutes to go and Marcus Edwards extended it with a penalty in the 42nd minute. The same Edwards still ended up receiving the second yellow card in stoppage time.
