The Ecuadorian pilot Sebastián Guayasamín was placed in fifth place this monday between light prototypes of the rally Dakar, performance with which rose to seventh place overall. The national motorcyclists finished the day without setbacks.

The stage ran between Al Dawadimi and Wadi Ad Dawasir, a special stage of 395 kilometers, which the Ecuadorian completed in 4 hours 26 minutes 24 seconds, 29 minutes 10 seconds behind the American Seth Quintero (Red Bull Off-Road Junior Team USA).

A very complicated stage, with many dunes, 100 kilometers of sand, with gigantic dunes that we managed to overcome ”, commented Guayasamín.

The day was not without setbacks for the tricolor pilot. “A broken wheel is part of the game”said the capital.

The performance left satisfaction in the South American duo made up of Guayasamín and the Argentine navigator Ricardo Torlaschi. “We are happy because we got the fifth place and we have risen in the general classification“Said the Ecuadorian.

In the general, Guayasamín ascended to the seventh box, a classification led by Chilean Francisco López (EKS-South Racing), followed by Swedish Sebastian Eriksson (EKS-South Racing) and Spanish Fernando Álvarez (South Racing Can-Am).

The participation of the Ecuadorian motorcyclists was completed without setbacks this Monday. The three drivers arrived in consecutive positions, separated by minutes of difference.

Juan José Puga (Puga Team) crossed the finish line in position 119, followed 30 seconds from his father, Juan Carlos, in position 120. For its part, Álex Cueva (Xraids Experience) was ranked 121, 3 minutes 10 seconds from Puga.

“We enjoyed a long time together without making mistakes. We find our rhythm, in which the father goes to his 70% and the son to his 50%. With that rhythm we ensure the completion and fun in the Dakar”, Juan José posted.

In the general ranking, Led by the British Sam Sunderland (GasGas Factory Racing), Cueva is ranked 111, Juan Carlos Puga 121 and Juan José 129.

The test in Saudi Arabia continues this Tuesday with the ninth stage, to be held in Wadi Ad Dawasir, a loop that includes 204 kilometers of link and 287 of special.
