Leandro Vega says goodbye to Emelec and Byron Palacios returns after two seasons with El Nacional

Officially, seven reinforcements have announced the Bombillo for this campaign.

Emelec’s pass book determined in recent days the departure of Uruguayan forward Facundo Barceló and Argentine defender Leandro Vega, since the leadership of the millionaires closed the incorporations of the Albiceleste center forward Mauro Quiroga and the Ecuadorian defender Eddie Guevara. Between Friday and Saturday – in addition – he confirmed the return of squad player Byron Palacios and the incorporation of national attacker Jeison Chalá as his brand new signing for 2022.

“Thank you very much and see you soon,” Vega wrote in a post on his Instagram account.

The 25-year-old central gaucho lost space in the stellar squad of Bombillo despite the fact that he started the 2021 season playing the first five dates. The signing of his compatriot Luca Sosa, who months later would become an Ecuadorian national, sent him to the substitution.

It was on March 21, 2019 when the official Emelec website announced by the institution the purchase of the federative and economic rights of Vega from River Plate, after which the footballer signed a contract with the Blues until December 2023.

The leadership led by Nassib Neme showed conviction believing that he was the ideal defender for the squad, taking into account his outstanding performances in the games he played in the 2018 campaign.

Last season he reached just eight performances, including two appearances for the 2021 South American Cup and one for the Ecuador Super Cup.

To strengthen this sector of the field, Emelec has signed Argentine defender Gustavo Canto (27 years old) and Ecuadorian defender Eddie Guevara (31 years old) for this year.

In addition to Guevara and Canto from Emerald, Emelec has announced the nationals Roberto Garcés, Marcos Caicedo and Kevin Rivera, and the Albiceleste Quiroga. The tricolor Alejandro Cabeza’s pass was also bought, who was already in the electric cast last year on loan from Aucas.

A youth squad returns

On Friday night, the return of youth squad Byron Palacios (26) was announced, who spent two seasons on loan at El Nacional, with which he scored twelve goals in the LigaPro Serie B last season and assisted nine times. Likewise, the Club Sport Emelec reported that its last signing was the national attacker Jeison Chalá (27 years old), who will arrive from the Argentine Godoy Cruz. With this player, the millionaire team closes its pass book with a view to the LigaPro Serie A 2022 championship, which will begin on February 18.
