“Monster”, “Experience and Mastery”. Italians assessed the Poles after the Serie A hit

The match in Turin, where Juventus took on Napoli, was by far the biggest hit of the 20th round. The duels between these teams always arouse a lot of emotions in Italy and it was no different this time. In addition, before the meeting, a commotion broke out with three guest players, who were sent to quarantine by the local sanitary department. The club’s representatives from Naples, however, opposed this decision and all three finally appeared in the match.

From the very beginning, the game in Turin was extremely balanced, but for a long time neither team was able to find the way to the goal. The situation changed only in the 23rd minute, when Wojciech Szczęsny was defeated by Dries Mertens. It is hard to find the fault of the Polish goalkeeper here, although if it had not been for his unfortunate return of the ball, Mathijs De Ligt could have saved the situation. Fortunately for the show, the hosts managed to equalize quite quickly. A few minutes after the start of the second half, Federico Chiesa hit the net and the result of the game did not change.

Solid performances by Szczęsny and Zieliński. “He is a key player”

Both Piotr Zieliński and they spent the full 90 minutes on the pitch. The Napoli midfielder was in the three quarantined players, but he appeared in the game and helped his teammates. He played a solid game and he was a threat under the opponents’ goal several times. The Juventus goalkeeper, on the other hand, apart from the unlucky intervention in the Mertens shot, did not stand out in any particular way.

Italians also had mixed feelings about the performance of the Polish representatives. Calciomercato.com pointed out Szczesny’s intervention at the goal and rated his performance as “6”. According to journalists, Piotr Zieliński deserved the same note. – He did not look the best, but he is a key player between the lines – we read in the explanatory memorandum. The goalkeeper of the Polish national team also received a “6” from Eurosport, which appreciated him half the grade better than his “indistinct” friend from Napoli.

Szczęsny was also better assessed by the daily “la Repubblica”, which gave him “6.5” and Zieliński “6”. – He did not blame the goal and defended the dangerous shot of his compatriot Zieliński. In the second, he also did not oversleep with the shots of Insigne and Mertens. On the other hand, Zieliński did not use up enough space that his rivals left him, wrote Italian journalists.

The portal Tuttomercato.web also noticed a good intervention by Szczęsny during the shot. In this case, however, both Poles received the same rating – “6.5”. – Szczęsny made it difficult for De Ligt to intervene at the goal for Napoli, but he defended the other shots well – it was written about the Polish goalkeeper. – Experience and mastery – this is how the Napoli midfielder was appreciated.

After 20 rounds, Napoli is third in the table with 40 points behind Inter Milan and five behind AC Milan. Juventus is in fifth position and five points behind Napoli. Both teams will play the next matches on Sunday. Napoli will take on Sampdoria and Juventus will face AS Roma away.
