MMA fighter knocks out an opponent with a rare kick from karate

American mixed martial artist (MMA) Justin Barry defeated compatriot Alan Benson at Cage Warriors 130. Video available at Twitter-UFC Fight Pass account.

The 33-year-old American had his first professional MMA fight. He managed to finish the fight ahead of schedule in the second round. Barry succeeded in a rare karate kick with the outside of his foot – mikatsuki geri. This technique, which is rarely demonstrated in fights according to the rules of MMA, allowed him to knock out an opponent and achieve victory.

The loss to Barry was Benson’s second in his career with a single win.

In August, as part of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Ghanaian athlete Abdul Razak Alhassan knocked out an opponent with a kick to the head. He finished Italian representative Alessio Di Chirico in 17 seconds.
