Barcelona’s victory this Wednesday against Linares by 2-1, for the Copa de España, was marked by the debut of Daniel Alves. After the end of the match, the right-back celebrated his return to the pitch with the Catalan team, but stated that the team needs to improve.
“I’m very happy, now a movie is playing in my head, because after so long, I’m back to playing an official match for the Barça it is a very special gift and i try to enjoy, help my teammates, compete alongside them, suffer with them and win with them. This is the feeling that we represent, it is the feeling that we defend and we have to improve”, he said in an interview with Barcelona TV.
“We know that it’s a competition that has more and more surprises, but that doesn’t happen to us, that we keep growing, that we keep improving as a team, having this competitive spirit, this mentality of knowing that things are difficult, but we have to be mentally strong and in the end things fall into place, the chances arise, the goals and the victories, that’s what we have to do,” he added.
Despite the triumph, Xavi Hernández’s men struggled to qualify against Spain’s third division team. The team conceded the goal at the 19th of the first half and only managed to turn around at the 24th of the final stage.
Now, Barça is back to focusing on The League. This Saturday, the Culés face Granada, away from home, for the 20th round. Xavi’s team is in fifth place, while his opponent is in 13th place.
