The refusal of the Australian authorities to allow the first racket of the world, Novak Djokovic, into the country is a political persecution. This is how Serbian President Aleksandr Vucic reacted to the incident, quoted by TASS.
According to him, the country’s authorities are doing everything to help the tennis player. In particular, the Serbian side is trying to get Djokovic to be quarantined from the hotel to the house that the athlete rented. In this case, he would be able to continue full-fledged training.
“It is unfair political harassment, in which everyone from the Australian prime minister is involved, playing out the story that“ the rules are obligatory for everyone, ”although they have passed many tennis players under the same conditions,” added Vucic.
On January 5, Djokovic was denied entry to Australia, as his visa does not imply the entry into it of data on the medical withdrawal from vaccination against COVID-19. The athlete planned to take part in the Australian Open, which will take place from January 17 to 30. The Australian authorities will make the final decision on his fate on 10 January.
