Corinthians does not throw in the towel for Cavani, despite Manchester United coach’s statement

Corinthians still hasn’t ruled out the hiring of Edinson Cavani.

On the last day of 2021, Ralf Rangnick, Manchester United coach, praised the Uruguayan and even said that he “desperately” needs the player to stay at the club.

But the statement did not make Timon back off. THE Sports Gazette found that Alvinegra board maintains the intention to hire the center forward.

In December, Corinthians had a conversation with Cavani and Walter Guglielmone, the athlete’s brother and agent.

After the official manifestation of counting on the player, the directors heard that everything would be defined during the month of January, and that Cavani would communicate his decision.

Therefore, Corinthians will only remove Cavani from their list of pretensions if the center forward admits that he does not intend to continue with a negotiation aimed at transferring to Brazilian football.

For Cavani to reinforce Corinthians, the player would have to get his termination with Manchester United, with whom he has a contract until June 2022, agree to reduce his salary and refuse European interested parties.

In other words, it is not a simple situation, nor does it bring any feeling of optimism to Parque São Jorge.

Still, the Alvinegra board did not throw in the towel and wait for a signal to take the next step.

Obviously, Corinthians football leadership knows how difficult it is to succeed in the attempt. Therefore, it keeps looking for an alternative in the market.

If another negotiation progresses in the meantime and Cavani still doesn’t have an answer, Corinthians will not be held hostage by the Uruguayan, and will continue their conversations in order to close with a new 9 shirt.
