World No. 24 Leylah Fernández got off to a good start in her preparation for the Australian Open by defeating Russia’s Yekaterina Alexandrova on Monday in the first round of the Adelaide WTA 500 tournament, where defending champion Iga Swiatek (9th) from Poland will be premiere precisely facing the Canadian with an Ecuadorian father.
