This Wednesday, Chelsea host Tottenham in a game valid for the semifinal of the English League Cup. The ball rolls at 4:45 pm (GMT), at the Stamford Bridge stadium, in London. The return departure is scheduled for January 12th.
The Blues arrived at this stage after beating Brentford, in the quarterfinals, by 2-0. The Spurs advanced with a 2-1 victory over West Ham. The other semifinal will be played between Arsenal and Liverpool.
This season, the teams have met only once, for the fifth round of the Premier League. On that occasion, Thomas Tuchel’s team ran over their rival, winning with ease by 3-0, with goals from Kanté, Rudiger and Brazilian Thiago Silva.
Last Sunday, Chelsea drew 2-2 against Liverpool, in an electrifying game, and kept their runners-up in the Premier League. Antonio Conte’s team beat Watford, 1-0, the day before and reached sixth place in the tournament.
Both clubs will take to the field next weekend for the third round of the FA Cup, following Wednesday’s game. On Saturday, at 2:30 pm (GMT), the Blues face Chesterfield, while Tottenham host Morecambe, at 11:00 am (GMT), the following day.
