Lukaku reinstated at Chelsea after apologies to Tuchel

This Tuesday, Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel announced that striker Romelu Lukaku has been reinstated to the Blues squad. The Belgian had been dismissed after declaring, in an interview with Sky Sports, of Italy, on December 31, that he was not happy with his situation at the English club.

“We took time to calmly look back. He apologized and is back on the team for training today,” Tuchel declared at a press conference held on Tuesday.

The most expensive signing in Chelsea’s history and the second largest in the history of the Premier League, behind only Jack Grealish of Manchester City, Lukaku arrived at the London club for the sum of 115 million euros, after having had a good spell at Inter Milan. At the time, he played 18 matches in the Blues shirt and rocked the net seven times.

“For me, the most important thing was realizing, and clearly realizing, that it wasn’t intentional. He didn’t intentionally do it to create this kind of noise before a big game,” added Tuchel, who had a meeting with the Belgian player and Chelsea officials this Monday.

Now, the London team captain turns his attention to the English League Cup, as tomorrow, Wednesday (5), Chelsea host Tottenham, at Standford Bridge, at 16:45 GMT, for the first match of the semifinal of the tournament.
