In recent years, jumps with artificial lighting took place in Oberstdorf, as well as during the finals at the facility named after Paul Ausserleitner in Bischofshofen. on the other two, they were held in natural light in the early afternoon hours. This division has already passed into the tradition of the prestigious tournament held at the turn of December and January.
Significant changes to TCS are coming. In the following years, jumping in Innsbruck in the evening?
Before the start of the current season, high masts appeared around the hill to illuminate the facility during the New Year’s Eve qualifications and the New Year’s competition. The organizers, however, changed their mind and remained faithful to the tradition according to which the jumpers competed as before – in the early afternoon. The last object that did not have artificial lighting was therefore the Bergisel in Innsbruck. For this reason, the competition must be played before dark.
Alfons Schranz, the head of the local organizing committee, quoted by the portal, revealed that this may change soon. – Official procedures are still ongoing. If all goes to plan, a competition with artificial lighting could be held in Innsbruck for the first time in 2023 or 2024. A competition starting at 4.30pm would have the advantage that there is usually no wind on Bergisel in the evening, he said.
Organizing competitions in Innsbruck in the afternoon would also be beneficial in terms of television broadcasting. Viewership in the afternoon or evening hours is much higher than in the case of daytime competitions.
This year, the competition will start on Tuesday, January 3 at 1.30 pm. We invite you to follow the text report on Sport.pl and in the Sport.pl LIVE mobile application.
