Yuri Borodavko, senior coach of the Russian national ski team, commented on Alexander Bolshunov’s performance in the mass start in the classic style at the third stage of the Tour de Ski. His words are quoted by “Championship.com”.
“Unfortunately, Bolshunov suffered a stick breakage. If this did not happen, it might have been better, ”Wartko explained the athlete’s failure. According to the coach, this is what prevented Bolshunov from reaching the prize-winning position.
The winner of the race was the Norwegian skier Johannes Klebo. He covered the distance of 15 kilometers in 41 minutes and 31.2 seconds. Finn Iivo Niskannen finished second, 20.8 seconds back. Russian Alexei Chervotkin finished third, 23.7 seconds behind the winner. Bolshunov finished fifth and was 27.9 seconds behind.
Bolshunov is a two-time overall winner of the Tour de Ski. One race before the end of the race in the current season, the Russian takes second place
The third stage of the “Tour de Ski” takes place in the Italian Val di Fiemme. It will end on January 4th with a freestyle mass start.
