Mineev thanked everyone who came to the tournament and noted that he knew about the considerable cost of tickets for the fight. “The loser was given the floor to the first – this is nonsense. Do not say after that that I am a favorite of Fight Nights, ”the fighter emphasized.
The winner of the fight also thanked Ismailov, adding that the athletes “made a show” for the audience. In addition, he apologized to the rival’s family.
“I want to apologize to his family. I know she’s in the hall. It’s even embarrassing that this happened in front of their eyes, ”said the fighter.
Mineev knocked out Ismailov at the AMC tournament. The middleweight title fight ended in round three. For Mineev, the fight was the first defense of the title.
At the weigh-in ceremony on the eve of the fight, Mineev’s weight was 84.4 kilograms, and Ismailov’s – 84.0 kilograms. The first meeting of the athletes ended in a draw.
