The State Duma reacted to the news about the American woman who escaped punishment for doping

The Russian athlete, who found himself in a similar situation with the American figure skater Jessica-Noel Kalalang, could not escape punishment due to double standards, said State Duma deputy Dmitry Svishchev. He expressed this opinion in a commentary to Gazeta.ru.

“You see, the system is unequal on different sides of the ocean. And everything that is prohibited in Russia is for some reason permitted in America. Of course, we cannot indiscriminately assert that something is forbidden with them. But in general, such a system exists, ”the parliamentarian responded to the news about the American woman.

Svishchev also cited as an example the case of the Russian curler Alexander Krushelnitsky, who was disqualified for using meldonium as a doping. “The lawyers have been arguing for more than two hours that the meldonium got into his body through no fault of his, that this is not evidence of a systemic intake. And if an American were in his place, he would tell a story about lipstick, about a cream, about some hormonal pills, as they like to do, ”the deputy added.

Earlier on September 16, it was reported that Kalalang would not be punished for doping, as the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) concluded that the banned substance entered her body along with cosmetics. The figure skater performs in pair skating with Brian Johnson.
