After a good performance in the first competition in the 28-year-old, he hoped to improve his position in the second competition of the series. However, he did not feel well at the facility in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, as evidenced by his rehearsals during both training sessions.
Stefan Kraft’s poor day
In the first Friday training, where Slovenian Timi Zajc (135 meters) was the best, the Austrian finished only 67th after a jump of just 102.5 meters. It was the fourth shortest distance of all competitors.
In the second training session, Kraft made a longer jump, landing at 115 meters, but it still did not allow him to significantly improve his position – he was finally classified 61st. Markus Eisenbichler won the second training session after a distance of 139 meters.
Stefan Kraft will not perform in Garmisch-Partenkirchen
The poor attitude of Stefan Kraft in training was also visible in the qualifications for the Saturday competition. The Austrian jumped only 119.5 meters, which gave him only 59th position and no promotion to the competition in. The best was again (137 meters), ahead of Ryoyu Kobayashi (134 meters) and Karl Geiger (135.5 meters).
The Austrian jumper commented on his Friday on the German hill. – I’m emotionally empty now. That day was pitch black, said the three-time world champion (also won gold this year in Oberstdorf) in an interview with ORF-TV.
Stefan Kraft will therefore not have the opportunity to improve his result in the first tournament in Oberstdorf. Then he took 12th place with jumps of 126.5 and 123 meters.
