Tokyo did not stop being a source of joys and historic medals for Ecuadorian sport after the 2020 Olympic Games. Japan was linked to the country on the sporting level because the formidable performance of the tricolor delegation in the Paralympic Games, between August 24 and On September 5, it represented the obtaining of medals for the first time. The national representation arrived in the Japanese capital with one of the smallest delegations, of just eight athletes and two guides (Diego Arévalo and Sebastián Rosero, of the parathlete Darwin Castro, of the T11 category for the visually impaired). Kiara Rodríguez, Roberto Chalá, Anderson Colorado, Damián Carcelén, Poleth Mendes, Anaís Mendes, Jordi Congo and Castro, all from the athletics discipline, make up the tricolor roster in Tokyo.

After obtaining the first two medals, coach David Bernardo ordered the Ecuadorians and the sports authorities not to stop supporting the parathletes. Bernardo said that because on August 29 the sisters Poleth and Anaís Mendes Sánchez, aged 25 and 21, respectively, achieved glory. The Ibarreñas won gold and bronze medals in shot put. The rejoicing was not limited to the fact that they were the first Ecuadorian medals in the history of the joust; Happiness encompasses a larger space: Poleth Mendes’s victory was a world record.
On September 2, Kiara Rodríguez Spain from Guayaquil competed in the T46 long jump final of the Paralympic Games, won a bronze medal and broke her own record in the Americas. Kiara with a mark of 5.63 meters secured the medal in her first valid jump. After that result, his second and third attempts did not count. In the fourth he made 5.20, but failed in the fifth and sixth. The 18-year-old athlete thus climbed to the podium of the Tokyo State Olympic. There were two Paralympic diplomas for Darwin Castro (73% visual impairment) for being a finalist in 1,500 and 5,000 meters.
