Vatanabe said he wants to hear Russians dissatisfied with the admission criteria
The head of the International Federation of Gymnastics (FIG) and presidential candidate of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Morinari Vatanabe, turned to dissatisfied criteria for the admission of Russian athletes for international tournaments. His words are given by RIA Novosti.
Vatanabe said that he wanted to hear the position of dissatisfied with Fig admission criteria. “Sports must unite, give friendship and should not be an instrument for hatred,” he thought.
Earlier it became known that 12 Russian representatives of sports gymnastics received neutral status. Including it was given to the Olympic champion Angelina Melnikova.
In July 2023, FIG announced the admission of Russians for international competitions in neutral status from January 1, 2024. Representatives of the country refused to submit applications to participate in qualification tournaments and missed the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
