FIS: To determine on the issue of the admission of Russians there are no approved time framework
In the International Snow Sports and Snowboarding Federation (FIS), they responded to the call of the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) of Thomas Bach to study the possibilities of admitting Russians to the qualification Olympic Games-2026 tournaments. The organization’s comment is given by TASS.
“For FIS, the situation is clear and remains unchanged: any decision regarding the participation of neutral athletes in FIS competitions is the prerogative of the FIS council, which is constantly considering and discussing this issue,” the Federation said. It is noted that to determine on the issue of the admission of Russians there is no approved temporary framework.
Earlier, Bach said: “The mission of the Olympic movement is to unite.” The head of the IOC added that the federations of winter sports need to very carefully study this issue.
At the beginning of 2022, most sports organizations, including FIS, removed Russians and Belarusians from tournaments on the recommendation of the IOC. Representatives of the countries were admitted to the summer games-2024 in the neutral status with a number of reservations and restrictions.
