Michael Morales’ camp, with a view to UFC 270, continues in Tijuana | Other Sports | sports

23 days after his premiere in the UFC in a welterweight duel against American Trevin Giles.

The mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Michael Morales confirmed to EL UNIVERSO that the preparation camp for his debut in the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) “still continues in Tijuana”, at the Entram Gym facilities.

Morales (12-0 MMA) faces his first challenge within the company on January 22, when he climbs into the cage of the Honda Center, in Anaheim, California, to face American Trevin Giles (14-3-0 MMA, 5-3 UFC) in a match of the preliminaries stage of the UFC 270 feature.

The 22-year-old from Orense, winner last September of a fight on the Dana White’s Contender Series program against Kazakh Nikolay Veretennikov, is part of the card that heads Francis Ngannou’s fight against Ciryl Gane, in the heavyweight division, and the co-feature between Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo at featherweight. Belts will be unified in both lawsuits.

23 days after its premiere in the UFC, Morales told EL UNIVERSO that his team has not yet communicated whether he should travel to the United States to finish the camp. “My camp is still in Tijuana, we still don’t know (if he’s going to change gym).”

Giles (29 years old), meanwhile, trains at the Gamebred Training Center, in Chula Vista, California.

The American intervenes at 185 pounds (middleweight), however, he agreed to drop to 170 (welterweight) to face the duel with the Ecuadorian newcomer who won a ticket to the UFC from the Contender Series by beating Veretennikov by unanimous decision last September 21st.

Neither of them is listed in the top of the best fifteen fighters in the welterweight division; Giles, in the company since 2019, also does not appear in the ranking medium weight. His last presentation in the UFC Octagon was on July 10 of this year, on the UFC 264 card, and he was defeated by TKO against Dricus Du Plessis.
