In Britain, they will sue Roman Abramovich because of money from the sale of Chelsea
In Britain, they wanted to sue Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich because of money from the sale of the Chelsea football club. It is reported by The Guardian.
“There are fundamental disagreements with Abramovich himself about what the money can be spent on, and it seems that the law will be the only way to solve this problem,” a source in the government said. According to The Guardian, officials want to send more than two billion pounds, which are currently placed on the bank account of one of Abramovich’s companies, to the aid of Ukraine.
In May 2022, Abramovich sold the club to the consortium of American businessman Todd Boelley. The amount of the transaction amounted to 5.33 billion dollars. The Russian was forced to part with the team, as he fell under the sanctions of the Government of Great Britain. After that, the club did not win a single trophy.
Abramovich bought Chelsea in 2003. During this time, the club five times became the champion of England and twice – the winner of the Champions League and the Europa League.
