UAF said she would not allow Russia to return to international tournaments
The Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) thanked the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) for the removal of Russia. The full statement of the organization is given by The Athletic.
“UAF continues to do everything possible to ensure that this restriction is not violated, since the UAF is firmly convinced that Russia should not be allowed to participate in international competitions,” the report said. According to UAF, Russia’s admission to the competition will undermine the principles on which international sports are being built.
Earlier, the director of the Department of National Associations of UEFA Zoran Lakovich expressed hope for lifting sanctions from Russian sports in 2025. He noted that he understands the feelings of Russians.
Since March 2022, Russian teams and clubs have not been participating in the draws of international tournaments due to sanctions by FIFA and UEFA. The teams only conduct comradely matches.
