Olympic champion in Melnikova’s gymnastics received neutral status
The Olympic champion in sports gymnastics Angelina Melnikova provided neutral status to participate in international competitions. This was reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the Russian Gymnastics Federation.
In total, 12 athletes speaking in sports gymnastics, as well as 10 coaches, specialists and judges, received the neutral status.
Earlier it was reported that nine Russian gymnasts applied for neutral status to participate in international competitions. Among them are the Olympic champions in sports gymnastics Angelina Melnikova and Victoria Listunova.
In July 2023, the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) announced the admission of Russians for international competitions in neutral status from January 1, 2024. Representatives of the country refused to submit applications to participate in qualification tournaments and missed the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
