Olympic champion in ski racing Sergei Ustyugov said he would apologize to his compatriot Alexander Bolshunov for his act in the semifinals of the sprint race at the 2025 championship in Kazan. His words are given by RIA Novosti.

The athlete said that he was angry that Bolshunov ran into his skis in the semifinals of the tournament. “Everything was on emotions, I waved a stick at him, it was not worth doing this,” he thought.

Earlier, on March 4, during the semifinals of the sprint between Ustyugov and Bolshunov, a skirmish occurred. Later, Bolshunov was fined for the fact that during the turn he was rebuilt at Ustyugov’s track and ran into his skis.

In 2022, there was already a conflict between the athletes. After the sprint, the classic style of Ustyugov did not shook his hand Bolshunov and stated that he had acted ugly, cutting it during the overtaking in the final of the race. In protest, Ustyugov, who took fifth place, did not come to the floral ceremony.
