Amura American striker Galchenyuk received a Russian passport
The American striker “Amura” Alexander (Alex) Galchenyuk received a Russian passport. This was announced by the First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Khabarovsk Territory and the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Club Sergey Abramov, whose words are given in the Telegram channel of the Continental Hockey League team (KHL).
Abramov expressed confidence that naturalization would benefit both the player himself and the domestic hockey. “We talked a lot with Alexander this season, and I can say that in spirit, in the mentality he is our, Russian guy. He loves Russia, the Khabarovsk Territory, the Amur hockey club, our fans. Therefore, we can say that today Alexander just returned home, ”said Abramov.
Galchenyuk has been playing for the “Amur” since the spring of 2024. In the season-2023/2024, the hockey player played for the St. Petersburg SKA, with which he reached the quarterfinals of the Gagarin Cup. Earlier, he also played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for clubs Montreal Canadiens, Arizona Koyotis, Pittsburgh Penguins, Minnesota Wilde, Ottha Senators, Toronto Maip Lefs and Colorado Evelansh.
31-year-old Galchenyuk was born in the USA, but has Belarusian roots. His father Alexander Galchenyuk is a former hockey player who performed in clubs in the USA, Russia, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and Belarus.
