The world record holder at a distance of 500 meters, the skater Pavel Kulizhnikov responded to the information that he had not got into the list of athletes for qualification for the 2026 Olympic Games. His words are given by Match TV.

“I don’t care, I do not want to compete with them, I am not interested. We were limited in everything, we were running the baths of the bathhouse inside Russia, and now they say – we are “admitting,” Kulizhnikov said.

The athlete added that he had never been involved in skating sports for the Olympics. “I continue to train. For me, the essence of sports does not come down to the Olympic Games, ”Kulizhnikov said.

The Russian is a three -time world champion in the sprint all -around, he also won the planet at separate distances five times. At the 2022 Olympics in Beijing, the athlete took 11th place at a distance of 1000 meters.

On December 20, the International Skating Union (ISU) allowed Russians to select the games-2026, which will be held in the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina-d’Ampezzo. In qualification competitions, they will be able to take part in one athlete or pair in each discipline. Russian skaters, skaters and representatives of a short track will perform in a neutral status.
