Olympic champion in speed skating, State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova reacted to replace the Russian national gymnastics team coach. Her words are given by RIA Novosti.

Zhurova said that she did not know Tatyana Sergaeva, but she was sure that her candidacy was approved by Irina Wiener. In her opinion, Sergeyev will deal with administrative issues, and Wiener will continue to work with gymnasts. “Knowing her, I will not believe that she will sit at home. She cannot without gymnastics, ”the deputy added.

Earlier, the President of the Russian Gymnastics Federation (FGR) Oleg Belozerov announced the appointment of Sergaeva. She replaced Winer in this post, which has been the head coach since 2001.

Sergaeva is a honored coach of Russia. For 17 years, she was the senior coach of the Russian team in group exercises. In addition, she worked at the Academy of Alina Kabaeva “Heavenly Grace.”

Wiener announced the departure from the Russian team earlier, on February 12. She added that she would transfer the gained experience to trainers engaged in the preparation of future generations of stars.
