Arnold González vs. José ‘Feroz’ Angulo ‘would be a tremendous fight’ in 2022 or 2023 | Other Sports | sports

Both boxers met in January during the ceremonial weigh-in for the ‘Ocles vs. Quiñónez ‘, in Guayaquil.

Elian Andrade, 1-star international coach of the International Boxing Association (AIBA), affirmed days ago that a fight between the Ecuadorian José Fierce Angulo and the American of Ecuadorian blood Arnold González in the welterweight division “may be possible” in Guayaquil or Quito in the year 2022 or 2023.

“It would be a tremendous fight because the Fierce Angulo has a very fierce boxing, he is a boxer who is going to fight and does not go backwards. For me it would be a good show and most of all, tremendous combat. Arnold González is also a very strong fighter, he has good reflexes, his technique is well refined ”, Andrade confessed in dialogue with EL UNIVERSO.

Angulo, a super lightweight (135 pounds) with a professional record of 14 wins and two losses, last January challenged the New Yorker to a match at super welterweight (147 pounds).

Both coincided during the ceremonial weigh-in of the boxing card ‘Ocles vs. Quiñónez ‘organized by the promoter Capital Box in the Huancavilca sports center, of the Fedeguayas, on January 29. However, González was indifferent to the challenge of the Fierce, since then he had an agreed fight with the Venezuelan Jeffry Quintero.

The Harlem fighter came to Ecuador again on November 20 for the contest for the South American and intercontinental welterweight belt (147 pounds) of the Universal Boxing Organization (UBO) against Colombian José Luis Prieto, in Manta.

Arnold González emerged gracefully from the coliseum of the Tohalli complex and remained undefeated in nine fights, five of them ended with knockouts.

Angulo, for his part, has seen promoter Top Rank cancel on two occasions an agreed fight against American Raymond Muratalla, first in Tucson, Arizona, and then in San Diego, California.

“I see it (the duel) at 140 pounds, welterweight; in that category ”, explained Elian Andrade regarding the match requested by the Fierce. (D)
