Russians Alexander Stepanov and Ivan Bukin will take part in the selection for the Olympic Games-2026 in ice dancing. This became known to Lente.ru.
According to a source familiar with the situation, Stepanov and Bukin turned out to be the only candidates in the list of dancers. It is noted that the duet is already rolling new programs and decided to skip the final of the Russian Grand Prix in order to avoid injuries.
In December 2024, the International Union of Skatytsy (ISU) announced the admission of Russians for the selection for games-2026. In qualification competitions that will be held in Beijing in September 2025, they will be able to take part in one athlete or pair in each discipline in neutral status. The figure skating federation of Russia should make a choice until the end of February 2025.
Stepanova and Bukin are four -time champions of Russia, three -time bronze and two -time silver medalists of European championships. At the Olympic Games-2022, the couple took sixth place.
