Tarasova: ISU will decide by summer which of the Russian skaters will speak at OI-2026
The Honored Coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova revealed the details of the selection of Russian skaters for the Olympic Games-2026. Her words are given by RIA Novosti.
Tarasova said that the participants of the qualifying for the tournament will determine not the federation of figure skating on the skates of Russia (FFKKR), but by the International Union of Halls (ISU). “ISU will solve this issue somewhere by summer. Therefore, we must honestly select the best athletes, ”she said.
Earlier, the President of the Figure Skating Federation of Norway Mona Adolfsen said that Norway and several more countries will oppose the admission of Russian skaters for the selection for games-2026.
In December 2024, ISU announced the admission of Russians for the selection for games-2026, which will be held in the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina-D’Ampezzo. In qualification competitions, they will be able to take part in one athlete or pair in each discipline in neutral status. The FFFKR must make a choice until the end of February 2025.
