Four -time Olympic champion Alexander Tikhonov refused to recognize the record of the Norwegian biathlete Johannes Be by the number of gold awards in individual races at the World Cup (World Cup). His words are given by Metaratings.

Tikhonov said that the record of the Norwegian athlete should not be counted due to the removal of Russians. “Because of political events, the Russians and Belarusians did not perform,” he emphasized.

At the 2025 tournament, which takes place in the Swiss Lenzersheida, Johannes Bea won the 22nd gold at the world championships. Thus, he became a record holder for this indicator.

Russians and Belarusians do not participate in international competitions by decision of the International Biathlon Union. The order entered into force in March of 2022 and will act until further notice.
