WADA said that the affairs of the skater Valieva and tennis player Sinner are not comparable
Representatives of the World Anti -Doping Agency (WADA) made a statement about the affairs of the Italian tennis player Yannik Sinner and the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
In WADA, they considered that these two cases are not comparable. They emphasized that in the investigations there were completely different circumstances and confirming evidence.
On February 15, WADA reported that it entered into an agreement on the settlement of the Sinner case. The first racket of the world received removal from February 9 to May 4, 2025, and WADA officially revoked an appeal to the sports arbitration court (CAS).
Sinner failed two doping tests in March 2024, but initially escaped disqualification. The Italian explained that the metabolite of clostobol in low concentrations entered his body due to the processing of the wound with spray.
CAS disqualified Valiev for four years. In the sample of the skater from December 2021, traces of the prohibited drug Trimetazidin were discovered. She was deprived of the gold medals of the European Championship, the Russian Championship and the team of the Olympic Games – 2022 (together with the entire national team).
