Norway will oppose the admission of Russian skaters for the selection for games-2026
A number of countries will oppose the admission of Russian skaters for the selection for the Olympic Games-2026. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the NTB television channel.
The President of the Figure Skating Federation of Norway Mona Adolfsen said that she did not approve of the decision of the International Skating Union (ISU) on the return of Russians. “We want to create a wider opposition front, uniting more countries. We and representatives of several other countries consider it sad that ISU is making such a decision, especially taking into account the fact that no other Winter Olympic sport said “yes” to the Russians, ”she emphasized.
In December 2024, ISU announced the admission of Russians for the selection for games-2026, which will be held in the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina-D’Ampezzo. In qualification competitions, they will be able to take part in one athlete or pair in each discipline in neutral status.
Russian athletes were forbidden to perform at tournaments under the auspices of ISU in March 2022. The last major start for domestic athletes was Beijing Games.
