The Italian skier Lorenzo Buzin, who lost to the three -time Olympic champion, Russian Alexander Bolshunov in the Sudtirol Moonlight Classic race, entered the award ceremony with the Ukrainian flag on his sleeve. It is reported by TASS.
The athlete noted that he has nothing against Bolshunov. “He also congratulated me at the finish, as soon as I arrived, and I did the same, we shook hands,” Buzin said.
The Italian, who took the second place in the race with a classic style of 30 kilometers, lost to the winner Bolshunov 14.4 seconds. The third place was also taken by the representative of Italy – Mattia Armellini.
Earlier, the former Ukrainian athlete Olga Saladukha called the participation of Bolshunov in the race a provocation and an attempt to feel the soil to weaken anti -Russian sanctions. She called on other athletes to boycott the competitions, but no one went for it.
