The International Football Federation (FIFA) has evacuated 100 people from Afghanistan. The organization announced this on its official website.
The federation reported that it was about “representatives of the football family,” including female players. FIFA thanked the Qatar authorities for the help. Together with them, a safe flight from Kabul to Doha was organized. The organization noted that the work on the evacuation of athletes has been carried out since August and will continue further.
On September 15, it was reported that the Afghan women’s soccer team fled to Pakistan. Then it was not specified exactly how many athletes left the country.
August 15 Taliban (traffic banned in Russia) announced the establishment of power in Afghanistan. The Taliban took control of the country’s capital, Kabul, without a fight. After that, some Afghan athletes turned to international sports organizations to help them leave the country.
