Guberniev about not returned by Valieva medals: you have to give it, but this is her business
Journalist Dmitry Guberniev appreciated the need for Russian skater Kamila Valieva to return the medals taken from her for doping. His words are given by RIA Novosti.
Guberniev said that Valieva remains a clean and honest athlete for him, but the rules were violated. “Probably must be given [медали]But this is her business. And I will not give her any advice, ”he said.
At the same time, the journalist emphasized that medals are just a piece of iron. “You can return it as many medals or not, but you open the protocol and the name of Valieva and our team in the team tournament of the Olympiad,” Guberniev noted.
Earlier it was reported that Valieva did not return the awards that were deprived of due to removal. The gold of the European Championship should go to the Russian woman Anna Shcherbakova. The title of Russian champion in 2022 should receive Alexander Trusov. In addition, Valieva should return the medals of two more championships of Russia, as well as three stages and one final of the country’s Grand Prix.
In January 2024, the sports arbitration court disqualified Valiev for four years. In the sample of the skater from December 2021, traces of the forbidden drug trimetazidin were discovered. Because of this, the Russian national team lost the gold of the Olympic Games team-2022 (the rest of the team, after recalculating the points, should receive bronze medals).
