The athlete said that Navka invited him to play for Belarus, but he refused. Kostomarov emphasized that he wanted to speak under the Russian flag and listen to the domestic anthem. “Only for Russia,” he added.

Kostomarova was hospitalized in January 2023 with pneumonia and influenza B. Due to the prolonged connection to the apparatus for saturation of blood with oxygen and the apparatus of artificial ventilation of the lungs, the athlete began to die off tissues.
