Arteta tests positive for covid-19 and won’t lead Arsenal against Manchester City

THE Arsenal announced on Wednesday that Spanish coach Mikel Arteta tested positive for covid-19. Because of this, the coach will not be on the edge of the field in the game against the Manchester City, through the Premier League, on the first day of 2022.

“Mikel is isolating himself in line with government guidelines and we wish him all the best,” the London club also reported.

Several games played on English soil have been canceled in recent weeks. This is because there has been an increase in cases of the new coronavirus in the UK, especially as a result of the Ômicron variant.

The match is scheduled for January 1st, at the Emirates Stadium, home of the Gunners, at 9:30 am (from Brasília). After 19 rounds, Arsenal is 4th in the Premier League and has 35 points. At 47, City leads the competition.
