Daily: NHL does not affect the decision of the IOC on the participation of the Russian national team in games-2026
Bill Diley, Deputy Commissioner of the National Hockey League (NHL), said that the organization cannot affect the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on the participation of the Russian national team in games-2026. His words are given by Odds.ru.
“We have no control over what the IOC can decide regarding the participation of Russian hockey players in the Olympic Games,” Daily said.
On February 4, the International Hockey Federation (IIHF) extended sanctions against the Russian national team and did not allow the team to be the 2026 World Cup. At the same time, the decision to speak the team at the Olympiad in Italy will be made after the election of the President of the IOC in March 2025.
Earlier, the NHL leadership announced that League players will take part in the games of 2026 and 2030. Olympiads of 2018 and 2022 representatives of the NHL missed.
