Former Spartak coach Massimo Carrera opposed the transition of the RFU to Asia
The former head coach of the Moscow Spartak Massimo Carrera appreciated the appropriateness of the possible transition of the Russian Football Union (RFU) to the Asian Confederation. His words are given by Sport24.
The Italian specialist opposed such a decision. “Russian football will have to wait for return to Europe because I am sure and hope that everything will return to how it was before!” – said Carrera.
In December 2023, the RFU abandoned the idea of moving into an Asian Confederation. All members of the executive committee of the organization considered the transition without guarantees from the International Football Federation (FIFA).
FIFA and UEFA in February 2022 removed Russian teams and clubs from participating in international competitions for an indefinite period. The Russian national team, including not allowed to draw a selection for the 2026 World Cup.
