Magnus Karlsen called on Arkady Dvorkovich to leave the post of President Fide
The sixteenth world chess champion Norwegian Magnus Karlsen called on the president of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) Arkady Dvorkovich to resign. With such an appeal, he turned to him in the social network X (former Twitter).
According to him, he must leave a post due to the lack of an agreement between the federation and organizers of Freestyle Chess tournaments regarding the holding of the world championships.
Carlsen said that Dvorkovich contacted his father about the FIDE and Freestyle Chess agreement. “Regardless of what decision will be made between FIDE and Freestyle on the issue of recognition, this will not affect the players in no way. They will be able to independently make a decision, and FIDE will not take any negative actions, ”the chess player quoted Dvorkovich.
He noted that such a message was allegedly sent in order to convince Karlsen to continue to participate in the World Rapid and Blitz Championship in New York.
The athlete said that Karlsen promised to resign if the Fide Council was different. “However, having forced the players to sign an unacceptable refusal, you have broken your promise. Will you resign? ” He emphasized.
Earlier, Carlsen cursed at the FIDA after the disqualification from the World Cup.
