Former head coach of the Russian national team Vyacheslav Bykov appreciated the words of the chairman of the Swedish Association of Hockey and a member of the Board of the International Hockey Federation (IIHF) of Anders Larsson to abandon the boycott in the event of the admission of Russians for the Olympic Games-2026. Earlier, Larson said that the Swedes are opposed to the return of Russia, but if this happens, they will not miss the Olympics. The International Hockey Federation (IIHF) will consider the issue of admission of the Russian national team for OI-2026 on February 3-4.
IIHF extended the removal of the national teams of Russia and Belarus for the season-2024/2025. For the first time, restrictions were introduced in February 2022.
