Olympic champion Alexei Yagudin on Instagram commented in one word on the performance of the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva.
The athlete called Valieva space. He also described figure skater Alexandra Trusova, calling her cool, and coach Tatyana Tarasova, believing that she was a genius.
At the Russian championship held in St. Petersburg, Valieva took the first place in women’s single skating. She holds the record for the number of points in the short and free program. Trusova became the silver medalist of the Czech Republic. The third result was shown by Anna Shcherbakova.
Valieva is a student of Eteri Tutberidze. She is the world junior champion. The skater also has two victories at the Grand Prix stages this season.
Valieva, Trusova and Shcherbakova will represent the Russian national team at the European Championship. The competition will take place in Tallinn from 10 to 16 January.
